Przemek Sobocki

Graduated as an Interior Designer at Academy of Fine Arts in Poland, studying also Fashion Design, then moved to London and eventually ended up in Tokyo. For his first illustration story the TOUCH for 125 magazine he receives Best Editorial 2005 at V&A Illustration Award, UK. Since then he works internationally as an illustrator and art director. Belongs to AVGVST management.

Back to Basis: FB page reactivated and new personal works popping up

I have been quite focused on my commercial projects for a while and I need to admit I`ve been even quite into it – I guess that`s part of me as designer – I`ve started lacking something. And I think it was the part of me where you just want to close the door and fight your demons alone – with no clients above you.  So now or actually for a while as well, I have been making my much more personal pieces – again – still with the roots in fashion, a bit, but with no restrictions /read: clients/ attached to it. So it`s back to basis as not much colour used at all as the same way when I`ve started my career as an illustrator – with the difference that now is more hand-drawing, then it was more collage. And hand drawing actually is more a root of my roots as an illustrator. I think I just really need to start again – with plain paper, “empty mind” and heaps of experience and emotions running deep down in me, somewhere in subconsciousness, almost out of reach.
