Gaku Nakagawa. RESPECT!

Dear A. and dear K.

I am writing to both of you as you TWO need to know about this new exhibition by amazing Japanese illustrator Gaku Nakagawa at Gallery House MAYA. I have not clue HOW and WHEN but please do pop in to The gallery – it’s tiny and cute and I just discovered it accidentally when I was browsing around Gaiemmae few days ago. I just realized that the exhibition is only till tomorrow /Sat, March 12th/. So HURRY UP!

I have seen his work before in Monocle magazine but those pieces he is showing in this exhibition are a bit different. Let’s say less commercial, more poetic, just beautiful and inspiring with its colouring, composition, story-telling. Another time I was so much inspired by any illustrator was years ago by Chris Ware and his Jimmy Carrigan, The Smartest Kid in the World – my best comic book EVER. Now I feel I can be an illustrator AGAIN. Now I want to tell stories AGAIN. Huge RESPECT for Nakagawa san and his work and Thank you for the inspiration!

Love u BOTH,

PS when I finished this letter the ground started shaking. Badly. Hope you all save. Thinking of you.
